Warning fraud tricks of sending messages impersonating a bank
04/09/2025Thời gian gần đây, tình trạng tin nhắn lừa đảo mạo danh tên ngân hàng có xu hướng quay trở lại. Đối tượng lừa đảo lợi dụng các chương trình khuyến mại của ngân hàng như thông báo điểm thưởng sắp hết hạn, hướng dẫn đổi điểm để thu thập và đánh cắp thông tin tài khoản ngân hàng.
Recently, scam messages impersonating bank names have tended to return. Fraudsters take advantage of bank promotions such as notices about expiring bonus points and instructions on how to redeem points to collect and steal bank account information.

Crooks send messages containing fake links with strange extensions such as: .xyz, .top, .info, .vip… or containing strange characters in the domain name, asking customers to access, enter card information, OTP code to perform misappropriation or install applications containing malicious code to take control of mobile devices. Customers absolutely do not access these links.
Please note: Vietnam Maritime Commercial Joint Stock Bank never requires customers to provide information such as: password, OTP authentication code, Soft Token, card number, CVV code – all are confidential customer information.
To ensure safe and secure accounts, Vietnam Maritime Commercial Joint Stock Bank recommends that customers:
1. Do not provide confidential information to anyone (including banks) including: login password, OTP authentication code, Soft Token PIN code, card information and other personal information.
2. Do not install or let others install software of unknown origin on your phone. Install and authenticate biometrics on the Vietnam Maritime Commercial Joint Stock Bank mBank application provided by Google Play for Android operating system and App Store for iOS operating system.
3. Verify the reliability of Short Message Service messages containing suspected fake links by copying Short Message Service and sending to 9548 (Viettel), 9241 (Mobiphone), 1551 (Vinaphone).
4. In case you suspect your phone has downloaded a fake or fraudulent application, immediately disconnect the network, turn off the phone and bring it to a reputable store to check and remove the fake application (if any), and support restoring the phone’s factory settings to ensure there is no malicious code left on the device.
5. Regularly monitor balance fluctuation notifications and notify immediately if anything unusual is detected.
6. Regularly update information about scams and fraud and increase vigilance in opening and using banking services.
