From the human foundation to MSB’s aspiration to reach new heights

The year 2026 marks the 35-year milestone of formation and development of Vietnam Maritime Commercial Joint Stock Bank (MSB)—a journey forged from a pioneering spirit, an aspiration for innovation, and relentless resilience.

From being one of the first joint-stock commercial banks in Vietnam to taking early steps in technology modernization, governance innovation, and digital transformation, every stage has contributed to MSB’s position today. However, what creates the most sustainable value after 35 years is not merely business accomplishments or growth scale, but the people and culture nurtured across generations.

This is also the spirit carried throughout “M-Festival – Continuing the Legacy Journey,” a series of events organized across the North, Central, and South regions of Vietnam as MSB turns 35. Instead of looking back only at figures and achievements, M-Festival chose a different narrative: telling the 35-year story through the very people who made the journey happen.

Because MSB’s values do not lie solely in what was created in the past. These values are present in the pioneering, innovative, dedicated, and responsible spirit passed down through generations; in every task—large or small—that each MSBer (MSB staff member) diligently performs every day.

Spanning three regions, M-Festival connected 8,000 employees in a shared journey—a place where everyone not only looked back at MSB’s 35 years together, but also had the opportunity to see themselves along that path. Despite differences in regions, business units, roles, or length of service, all shared a common pride: every single individual contributed to making MSB what it is today.

Some recognitions are granted through titles. But there are also simpler recognitions: seeing one’s own name within the organization’s collective journey.

At M-Festival, the “Golden Page of Legacy” became a special touching point as it recorded the names of 8,000 MSB employees across all three regions. Regardless of position or department, every name was respectfully placed side-by-side as part of the 35-year journey.

Among thousands of names, many MSBers paused for a long time to find themselves, locate colleagues, and look for those who had stood shoulder-to-shoulder with them through many years. A simple touch of a finger on one’s own name might seem small, but behind it lies an entire youth, days of hard work, companions, and countless memories.

An employee shared after the event: “Touching my small name line among thousands of colleagues on the honor wall brought back so many memories and emotions—stirring, emotional, proud, and deeply cherished.”

“A quiet yet fully dedicated period of youth attached to this uniform. Thank you MSB for a brilliant 35-year journey of reaching new heights; thank you colleagues for your support, companionship, and generosity. Thank you to myself for striving and trying hard every day,” shared another MSBer.

From a small line of name on the wall, stories opened up an entire journey. Some have just started their journey with MSB, while others have been there for 5, 10, 20 years, or even longer. Some contributions are visible, while many tasks happen quietly behind the scenes. But when placed side-by-side, they all form a true “Golden Page” for MSB—written not only by outstanding achievements, but by the presence, perseverance, and contribution of each individual.

Building on this appreciation for all employees, M-Festival simultaneously held special ceremonies to honor individuals with long-term tenure, outstanding achievements, and significant contributions to the bank’s development.

Choosing the category “Legacy” instead of ordinary titles reflects the bank’s consistent philosophy: People are the most valuable asset, forming the foundation of its identity and sustainable growth strength.

Out of 8,000 employees across the entire system, 135 exemplary faces were honored under the categories: Top 10 Legacy, Top 20 Legacy, Top 35 Legacy, and Top 135 Legacy.

Each title is not only a recognition of dedication, but also a tribute to values that transcend individual accomplishments to become part of the bank’s growth story. It is these individuals who, through perseverance, a sense of responsibility, and a passion for innovation, have together built MSB’s identity, culture, and “legacy” over the past 35 years.

Continuing this spirit, in Hanoi, a special tribute ceremony was dedicated to senior leadership teams who have accompanied MSB for 5 years or more, contributing significantly to the leadership, management, and development of the bank.

Inspired by the concept of reaching new heights through the “Journey of Light,” four titles—Wondrous, Magical, Miraculous, and Legendary—were symbolized by the Light Ray, Constellation, Dawn, and Galaxy. They portray a journey from foundational values, connecting strength, and pioneering spirit to milestones that become a part of MSB’s history.

Each symbol not only honors a path of dedication, but also tells the story of generations of leaders who persistently guided, built, and inspired current and future generations of MSBers to continue writing the bank’s journey of reaching new heights.

Yet, the gratitude at M-Festival did not stop with those called onto the stage.

One of the most touching moments of the journey occurred when thousands of employees placed their hands over their hearts together. Lighted wristbands glowed in unison, and messages of thanks appeared across the event space. In that moment, gratitude was sent to every person who has contributed and continues to contribute to MSB, whether on the frontline or behind the scenes, whether dedicated for decades or just starting their journey.

The most emotional moment of synthesis was when thanks were addressed to all 8,000 MSBers.

Thousands of hands placed over hearts, lighted wristbands glowing simultaneously, thank-you messages sent to each person, and the phrase “MSB is proud to have you” echoed against the background music of Thank You to the One Who Stayed Awake with Me. Everything combined to create a profound moment that touched the heart of everyone present. It was MSB’s sincere tribute to all employees for years of perseverance and silent efforts that built the 35-year journey.

More than that, 8,000 hands placed over hearts were also 8,000 words of thanks to themselves. In that moment, every MSBer had a chance to reflect, feel proud of the journey passed, and deeply cherish what they have given and contributed.

“MSB is proud to have you” touched emotions because of its deep humanistic meaning: MSB’s appreciation ignited each individual’s pride—the pride of realizing that they, too, are an integral part of the 35-year journey.

From the 8,000 names on the “Golden Page of Legacy,” the 135 exemplary faces honored, and the generations of leaders paid tribute to, to the thousands of hands placed over hearts—all conveyed a single message: in MSB’s journey, every contribution deserves to be cherished.

For a great bank is built not only from brilliant moments, but also from thousands of ordinary working days, from sometimes silent efforts, and from generations of people who devoted a part of their youth to the colors of MSB.

Entering its 35th year, MSB looks back at that journey to appreciate the human foundation and culture that brought the bank to where it is today.

When every MSBer sees themselves as part of the bank, “Continuing the Legacy Journey” is no longer just a message for the 35th milestone. That “legacy” does not remain in the past; it is being inherited, enriched, and written daily by today’s MSB team. From the values passed down, every MSBer will continue to add their mark to the shared journey, reaching new heights alongside MSB from its established foundation and creating sustainable values for the future.
