Warning of increased scams
21/03/2022Recently, Vietnam Maritime Commercial Joint Stock Bank has recorded an increase in forms of online fraud through social networks (facebook, zalo…). To avoid losing money, customers should increase vigilance with the following tricks:
Fraudulents impersonating e-commerce platforms such as Shopee, Lazada, Tiki… recruit collaborators to place virtual orders, a job that requires placing virtual orders but transferring real payment, then will receive back the principal plus a commission from 10% to 20%.
The first orders are usually worth a small amount from 1 million to 2 million VND. After transferring, collaborators are informed that the task was successful and the principal is fully returned, plus commission as committed to gain trust. Next, the subject will send a larger task with a value of up to tens of millions of dong, then report an error, request to perform another task, and be eligible to refund all previous defective orders.

Trick 2: Fraudulently approving bank loan applications but asking customers to transfer money to buy loan applications or pay insurance fees.
The fraudster created a Facebook or Zalo account, impersonating a bank employee, running ads to support bank loan packages with simple procedures, quick disbursement, customers only need to pay a fee to buy loan documents or pay loan insurance fees.

With the above tricks, the subjects ask the victim to transfer money to their personal account number. After successfully transferring the money, the fraudster will block contact, appropriate and disperse all the money they have defrauded.
