MSB Sponsors Classroom Upgrades and Sanitation Facility Construction in Hue
25/03/2025On March 20, 2025, Vietnam Maritime Commercial Joint Stock Bank (MSB) collaborated with the authorities of Dong Son Commune, A Luoi District, and the local Department of Education and Training to organize the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction and renovation of school facilities at Dong Son Primary School.
With a total investment of more than VND 2.3 billion, eight classrooms are scheduled to be upgraded and renovated and put into operation in 2025, ensuring adequate and safe facilities to support effective teaching and learning. At the same time, a standard sanitation system will also be constructed to help students improve their understanding of school hygiene, enabling them to take better care of their health and contributing to the development of a healthier generation.

Mr. Nguyen Phi Hung – Deputy Chief Executive Officer of MSB – delivers remarks at the groundbreaking ceremony.
Dong Son Primary School was established in 1996, and after nearly 30 years of operation, many of its classrooms have significantly deteriorated while sanitation facilities remain temporary and inconvenient for students. In addition, the school is located in a border mountainous district of Thua Thien Hue Province, where local living conditions and infrastructure remain challenging and transportation is still limited. Most residents are ethnic minorities, with 85% of the population classified as poor households.
“As a bank that pioneers sustainable development strategies, MSB has in recent years consistently accompanied the development of local education by sponsoring school infrastructure and classroom construction. These efforts aim to give students greater opportunities to pursue knowledge and build better lives, thereby contributing to a more equitable and progressive society,” an MSB representative shared.
Bank leaders also expressed their belief that the new facilities will provide teachers and students at Dong Son Primary School with improved conditions for teaching and learning while enhancing sanitation standards and the overall learning environment.

In 2024, MSB collaborated with the People’s Committee and the Department of Education and Training of Bao Lac District, Cao Bang Province, to organize the inauguration ceremony and new school year opening at Huy Giap Ethnic Boarding Secondary School—a project built with VND 2 billion in funding from the bank. In addition, MSB worked with local authorities in Tuong Duong District and Huu Khuong Commune, Nghe An Province, to inaugurate four classrooms along with a water well system and protective canopies at Pung Bon school site, part of Huu Khuong Ethnic Boarding Primary School, with a total investment of VND 2.5 billion.
These initiatives aim to create a safe, modern and effective learning environment that allows students to pursue their educational aspirations while contributing to the advancement of education at both the local and national levels.
Beyond business development, MSB has also actively implemented many meaningful social responsibility initiatives across multiple sectors as part of its long-term humanitarian journey.
Notably, in 2024, responding to the call of the Prime Minister, MSB donated VND 10 billion to support the elimination of temporary and dilapidated housing for poor and near-poor households nationwide and contributed VND 1 billion to support communities affected by Typhoon No. 3 (Yagi). Earlier, at the end of 2023, MSB also funded the construction of 22 houses for poor and near-poor households in Bao Lam District.
These contributions not only support communities in recovering from natural disasters and improving their living conditions—reflecting Vietnam’s tradition of solidarity and compassion—but also demonstrate the bank’s proactive commitment to national social development programs.
