MSB Donates Eight Classrooms and Sanitation Facilities in Hue

26/09/2025

On September 25, 2025, Vietnam Maritime Commercial Joint Stock Bank (MSB) collaborated with the authorities of A Luoi 4 Commune to organize the inauguration ceremony for a student and teacher sanitation facility and the renovation of classrooms at Dong Son Primary School, located in A Luoi 4 Commune, Hue City.

The ceremony was attended by Mr. Nguyen Huu Phuoc – Deputy Director of the Hue Department of Education and Training, Mr. Cao Manh Hung – Head of the Propaganda and Social Affairs Department of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hue City, Mr. Ho Van Toi – Deputy Chief of the Office of the People’s Council and People’s Committee of A Luoi 4 Commune, and Ms. Le Thi Giang – Principal of Dong Son Primary School.

Representing MSB were Ms. Nguyen Ha Thanh – Chief Operating Officer, Ms. Lai Thanh Mai – Deputy Head of Legal Advisory and Compliance, and Mr. Trinh Xuan Nam – Director of MSB Hue Branch.

With a total investment of more than VND 2.3 billion, eight classrooms have been upgraded and renovated and put into operation after six months of construction, ensuring adequate and safe facilities to support effective teaching and learning.

At the same time, the newly built standard sanitation system helps students better understand hygiene practices, encouraging them to take care of their health and contributing to the development of a healthier generation.

Dong Son Primary School was established in 1996. After nearly 30 years of operation, many of the school’s classrooms had deteriorated significantly, while sanitation facilities were temporary and inconvenient for students.

In addition, the school is located in a border mountainous district of Thua Thien Hue Province, where living conditions and local infrastructure remain challenging, and transportation is still limited. Most residents are ethnic minorities, with 85% of the population classified as poor households.

“As a bank that pioneers sustainable development strategies, MSB has in recent years continuously supported the development of education in local communities through investments in school infrastructure and classroom construction. These efforts aim to give students more opportunities to pursue knowledge and build a better future, thereby contributing to a more equitable and progressive society,” an MSB representative shared.

Bank representatives also expressed their belief that the new facilities will provide teachers and students at Dong Son Primary School with better conditions for teaching and learning while improving sanitation standards and the overall learning environment.

In addition to supporting the construction and renovation of school facilities, MSB also presented 30 scholarships totaling VND 30 million to disadvantaged students and distributed 175 Mid-Autumn Festival gift packages to students at the school. This activity is part of the “Happiness for Children” program organized by the M-Happy Club, which aims to spread positive values among MSB employees and the broader community.

MSB presents 30 scholarships to disadvantaged students of the school.

Established in 2024, M-Happy aims to enhance employee experience while spreading humanitarian values to the community. Under the spirit of “Living with Care,” more than 6,000 MSB employees have contributed to the “Happiness for Children” program.

Throughout 2024, this charitable journey reached 11 schools across Vietnam, particularly in mountainous provinces such as Lai Chau and Lao Cai, as well as remote areas including Quang Tri and Thua Thien Hue. Hundreds of scholarships were awarded along with various infrastructure improvements, equipment and learning materials.

These initiatives aim to encourage students, teachers and school staff to overcome challenges, maintain confidence and continue striving for excellence in teaching and learning.

In 2024, MSB also organized the inauguration ceremony and new school year opening at Huy Giap Ethnic Boarding Secondary School in Cao Bang Province, a project funded with VND 2 billion from the bank. In addition, MSB donated four classrooms and a water well system along with protective canopies at Pung Bon school site, part of Huu Khuong Ethnic Boarding Primary School, with a total investment of VND 2.5 billion.

These initiatives aim to create safe, modern and effective learning environments for students to pursue their educational aspirations while contributing to the advancement of local education and the broader development of Vietnam’s education sector.

Beyond business development, MSB has also actively implemented various meaningful social responsibility initiatives across multiple sectors as part of its long-term humanitarian journey.

Notably, in 2024, responding to the call of the Prime Minister, MSB donated VND 10 billion to support the elimination of temporary and dilapidated housing for poor and near-poor households nationwide and contributed VND 1 billion to assist communities affected by Typhoon No. 3 (Yagi).

Earlier, at the end of 2023, MSB also funded the construction of 22 houses for poor and near-poor households in Bao Lam District.

These contributions not only support communities in recovering from natural disasters and improving their living conditions—reflecting Vietnam’s tradition of solidarity and compassion—but also demonstrate the bank’s proactive commitment to national social development programs.
