Inauguration of Four New Classrooms Funded by MSB at Pung Bon School Site, Nghe An

28/02/2025
After four months of construction, on the morning of February 27, 2025, Vietnam Maritime Commercial Joint Stock Bank (MSB) coordinated with the authorities of Tuong Duong District and Huu Khuong Commune, Nghe An Province, along with the local Department of Education and Training, to organize the inauguration ceremony for four newly built classrooms at Pung Bon school site, part of Huu Khuong Ethnic Boarding Primary School.

MSB representatives cut the ribbon to inaugurate the project.

With a total investment of more than VND 2.4 billion, the four newly constructed classrooms have been completed according to required standards, ensuring that teachers and students now have safe and effective conditions for teaching and learning. In addition to reducing the pressure caused by limited educational infrastructure in Huu Khuong Commune, the new classrooms also contribute to the gradual development of the education sector in Tuong Duong District.

Along with the new classrooms, MSB also donated one drilled well to provide convenient access to water for daily use and a large canopy to protect teachers and students during school activities.

“As a bank that pioneers sustainable development strategies, MSB has carried out many social responsibility initiatives in recent years, particularly in the education sector. These include building classrooms and kitchens, donating kitchen equipment and learning materials at schools across the country. These efforts aim to provide students with better learning and living conditions, helping them gain more motivation to develop knowledge and build a better future,” shared Mr. Nguyen Phi Hung, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of MSB.

Bank leaders also expressed confidence that improved and modern educational facilities will inspire students to continue the strong academic tradition of the region and grow into responsible citizens who contribute to the prosperity of Nghe An Province.

At the event, MSB also presented 20 gifts to students from disadvantaged backgrounds, encouraging them to overcome challenges and continue pursuing their educational journeys.

The completion and handover of the four classrooms at Pung Bon school site continues MSB’s series of meaningful social responsibility initiatives implemented in partnership with local authorities across the country. It also reaffirms MSB’s commitment to the community, particularly the education sector, contributing to the broader goal of national development and improved livelihoods.

In 2025, MSB continues to prioritize sustainable development, promoting a culture of care that strengthens both the environmental and social pillars of ESG standards. In line with this direction, MSB plans to sponsor the upgrade of eight classrooms and the construction of sanitation facilities for students and teachers in Dong Son Commune, A Luoi District, Thua Thien Hue Province, with an estimated investment of approximately VND 2.3 billion.

Regarding the bank’s broader community initiatives, in September 2024, MSB worked with the People’s Committee and the Department of Education and Training of Bao Lac District, Cao Bang Province, to inaugurate Huy Giap Ethnic Boarding Secondary School, a project funded with VND 2 billion from MSB. The project was designed to create a safe, modern and effective learning environment for students while contributing to the development of local education.

As a key institution in the “backbone” sector of the economy, MSB has also carried out many other meaningful social initiatives beyond education. Notably, on October 5, 2024, responding to the call of the Prime Minister, MSB donated VND 10 billion to support the elimination of temporary and dilapidated housing for poor and near-poor households nationwide. Earlier, on September 10, 2024, MSB contributed VND 1 billion to assist communities in northern provinces affected by Typhoon Yagi. At the end of 2023, the bank also funded the construction of 22 houses for poor and near-poor households in Bao Lam District.

These initiatives not only help communities recover from natural disasters and improve living conditions, reflecting Vietnam’s long-standing spirit of solidarity and compassion, but also demonstrate MSB’s proactive role in supporting national social development programs.
