07/10/2024

Vietnam Maritime Commercial Joint Stock Bank (MSB) has donated VND 10 billion to support the elimination of temporary and dilapidated housing for poor and near-poor households across Vietnam.

A representative of MSB presented the contribution at the national launch ceremony for the program supporting the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses for poor and near-poor households, chaired by the Prime Minister on October 5 in Hanoi.

“We hope this meaningful contribution will help provide stable housing, strengthen the social safety net, and create opportunities for disadvantaged families to improve their living conditions. It also contributes to realizing the Party and State’s commitment to poverty reduction and national development,” said Mr. Nguyen Phi Hung, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of MSB.

Mr. Nguyen Phi Hung – Deputy CEO of MSB – representing the bank presents the VND 10 billion donation to support the elimination of temporary and dilapidated housing for poor and near-poor households nationwide.

According to statistics from Q1 2024, the nationwide poverty rate (including both poor and near-poor households) stood at 5.71%, with nearly 1.6 million households classified as poor or near-poor. In addition, Typhoon Yagi and other recent natural disasters have significantly affected people’s livelihoods, particularly those of vulnerable communities.

Guided by the spirit of solidarity and mutual support, MSB reaffirms its commitment to standing alongside communities in need, in line with the bank’s core values. MSB hopes its contribution will provide encouragement and practical support, helping families secure their livelihoods and gain greater motivation to improve their lives.

Prior to this initiative, MSB had also carried out a series of meaningful social responsibility activities, continuing the bank’s long-standing commitment to community development. On September 10, MSB donated VND 1 billion to support communities affected by Typhoon No. 3.

Additionally, in October, the province of Cao Bang held the inauguration ceremony for the Huy Giap Ethnic Boarding Secondary School, a project built with VND 2 billion in funding from MSB. The bank has also committed over VND 2.4 billion to construct a four-classroom building for students at Pung Bon campus, part of Huu Khuong Ethnic Boarding Primary School in Tuong Duong District, Nghe An Province.

Earlier, at the end of 2023, MSB funded the construction of 22 houses for poor and near-poor households in Bao Lam District, Cao Bang Province.

According to the bank’s representative, MSB will continue to actively implement meaningful community initiatives in the coming time, delivering positive value to society and contributing to improving the quality of life for Vietnamese people.
