Vietnam Maritime Commercial Bank (MSB) officially launches the “Profitable Remittances, Double the Benefits” promotional program, optimizing benefits and increasing profitability for customers receiving remittances at MSB.
The end of the year and the Lunar New Year are always peak periods for remittances flowing into Vietnam. According to statistics, Vietnam consistently ranks among the top 10 countries receiving the largest remittances globally. In 2024 alone, the total amount of remittances to the country is estimated at approximately US$16 billion, equivalent to 4% of the country’s GDP. This crucial financial resource not only supports family life but also plays a key role in supplementing foreign exchange liquidity, supporting the national balance of payments.
To increase benefits for customers receiving remittances during this period, from now until March 31, 2026, MSB is implementing the “Remittances Earn Profits, Double the Benefits” promotion program, maximizing the value of each foreign currency unit when it reaches relatives in Vietnam. MSB focuses on providing double benefits to customers receiving remittances by reducing cash withdrawal fees and offering preferential exchange rates.

Specifically, customers receiving remittances through MSB accounts and wishing to sell foreign currency (USD) for VND will enjoy a preferential exchange rate of up to 50 points compared to the listed transfer purchase rate. This is a significant competitive advantage when converting large sums of money, allowing customers to receive more VND for the same amount of USD, increasing their spending capacity and generating direct profits from remittances sent by relatives. This preferential policy is widely applied to customers with USD in their accounts at MSB, transacting at the counter or through the MSB mBank application.
At the same time, to reduce the burden of transaction costs, MSB is implementing a fee reduction for withdrawing USD for customers receiving remittances via SWIFT to their payment accounts at MSB, with the new fee being only 0.16% (minimum 2 USD) compared to the old rate of 0.2% (minimum 2 USD). Reducing foreign currency cash withdrawal fees is a practical measure that helps recipients save on direct costs, especially for large remittances, contributing to preserving the full value of foreign aid.

An MSB representative stated that this is not just a regular promotional program, but also provides customers with a financial solution designed to maximize the profitability of remittances, while also creating momentum for overall economic development. The combination of competitive exchange rates and reduced fees for cash foreign currency withdrawals allows remittance recipients in Vietnam to fully enjoy the benefits, increasing the value and profitability of each currency transferred. More importantly, this preferential policy also acts as a leverage/incentive to encourage remittance flows to Vietnam.
As one of the leading commercial banks with diverse international payment products and services, MSB’s remittance business results show many noteworthy highlights, reflected in both sales volume, growth rate, and profitability. In addition to receiving remittances from abroad, MSB also provides international money transfer services, meeting diverse needs from studying abroad, tourism, business trips, medical treatment, immigration, supporting relatives overseas, or other legitimate money transfer transactions, along with promotional programs offering free money transfers during holidays and competitive exchange rates…
