Warning about fraud by impersonating bank employees providing illegal withdrawal services/support for low-interest installment conversion from credit cards
01/01/2022Recently, grasping the need to withdraw cash from credit cards of card users, some subjects impersonated bank employees to approach, steal security information, and appropriate money.
Accordingly, the subject calls from a personal number, or sends text messages pretending to be a bank employee, “inviting” customers to withdraw cash, due monthly, or pay in installments via credit card with low interest rates. If the customer agrees, the subject will request to send information of the physical credit card including card number and CVV code, image of ID card/CCCD, contract code sent to the phone number if necessary, essentially the OTP code of the transaction deducting money from the credit card and the amount to withdraw.
In some cases, to create trust, these entities transfer a certain amount of money to the cardholder. This amount is usually much less than the amount previously debited on the card; or crooks use the card to make illegal transactions and appropriate money on the card.
Fraudulent purchases, cash withdrawals, and “undercover” credit card expiration services are all illegal transactions and are prohibited by the state bank. If done, the cardholder is at risk of losing money.
Therefore, you should note:
- Only convert to Vietnam Maritime Commercial Joint Stock Bank credit card installments via Hotline 24/7 number (024) 39 44 55 66. If you receive consulting calls from your personal mobile number, you should verify the information with the Bank.

- Do not read the OTP code to anyone, including people claiming to be bank employees.
- Immediately notify Vietnam Maritime Commercial Joint Stock Bank to block the card and if you suspect information loss or fraudulent transactions have occurred.
